WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?
Everyone is welcome. Children must be under adult supervision at all times. There is poison oak in the park that we will point out before starting. Also, if you are expecting a group of 10 or more, please email us at hello@southpasnaturepark.org so that we can have enough tools.
WHEN ARE THE CLEANUPS HELD?
Usually on the 3rd Saturday of the month, 9 am – noon (no cleanups in July, August and December). Events are posted on the website calendar, Facebook Page, and Instagram. You can also receive newsletters by signing up for our mailing list.
WHERE DO WE MEET?
We meet inside the Nature Park near the lower entrance. There are directional signs at the upper entrance on Pasadena Ave.
DO WE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GARDENING OR NATIVE PLANTS TO PARTICIPATE?
No knowledge is required, though we welcome input and suggestions from those with a background in Southern California native plants. Working in the Nature Park is a great way to learn about our unique and beautiful native flora.
DO WE NEED TO BRING OUR OWN TOOLS?
We provide all of the tools and supplies. However, if you have a favorite trowel or other gardening tools, feel free to use them.
WHAT SHOULD WE BRING?
- Wear sunscreen, hat, sunglasses
- Bring plenty of water
- Bring gardening gloves and tools (weeders, trowels, whatever you use in your own garden), there are extra tools and gloves for those who need them
- Wear comfortable work clothes, including work shoes (sneakers or boots) and long pants
- Face mask is recommended – helps with allergies
- Bring binoculars for birdwatching (optional)
DO YOU SIGN OFF ON SERVICE HOURS?
Yes, we sign off on service hours for students. We can also help out with school projects.
